Make Simple Charms: Snip, Shape, Stamp, Rivet, Polish with Anita Mills!



Do you need a small, special, and personalized element to add to that bangle or necklace? Or a pair of charms with which to make earrings? In this beginners’ class, learn how to design and fabricate simple charms from metal and wire. Choose from copper, brass or silver. Discover how to cut shapes, stamp patterns and words, join shapes with rivets, finish edges and polish. Voilà! You have added that personal touch!

Tools provided for class use.

Students need to provide their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

(If you ordinarily wear glasses, you must wear safety glasses over them.)

You will need a second face mask to switch to and wear while sanding and finishing the metals.



Anita Mills was born in Lubbock, Texas, in 1952.  She attended public school there through her undergraduate degree, earning a B.F.A. in Ceramics and Printmaking from Texas Tech University. After completing her M.F.A. in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977, she took a teaching position at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.  During her twelve years at St. Cloud, she taught all levels of design, drawing, painting, printmaking, theory of art, and “Women Artists: An Historical Survey.”  From 1990 – 1998, Anita taught adults and young adults through workshops and courses offered in community education settings.

Throughout her career as an artist, Anita has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions—both competitive and invitational, in regional and national venues. On many occasions she has served as guest artist, workshop leader, conference panelist, and exhibition juror.
