November Newsletter 2023

Christmas is right around the corner and Bead-Therapy is sponsoring a Christmas tree in Miller Park.  I will be madly making all sorts of ornament covers to fill up the tree and if you feel kind hearted and want to make a cover, bring an already made ornament cover to be put on the tree- Why FEEL FREE!!  I would gladly take it and display it!!  Don't bring in anything that you can't (or don't want to) live without since there is security, but with wind/weather and sticky fingers, you just never know......    Go and take a look at my tree!!  The display runs from November 23rd until Christmas (same time as the EPB window displays).  I am still seeing local people coming into the shop who never knew that I existed.  So sad!  Just think of all the wonderful beads that they've been missing!!!

And don't forget that we have a lot of already made jewelry and a lot of fast and easy kits to be made that make great gifts!!  Or if you have any ideas, we can help you bring them into reality!  And you know that you can make a fabulous gift of jewelry for way less money than buying it.....   Just thought that I would mention that......  Come see us and we'll help you make something fabulous or you can purchase something already made!

Holiday Schedule!--- We will be closed on November 23 and 24th for Thanksgiving so everybody can visit their families.  And we will be closed the week of Christmas.  December 24-January 1, 2024. Historically the week of Christmas is very slow at the shop anyway, and I'm going to take the opportunity to work out of town since I haven't been able to work for a while due to my Dad's health.  Might have a nice Small Business Saturday sale after Black Friday so keep an eye on the Website.  I'll be working out of town that weekend too probably, so don't be too hard on Pam and Ashley (and Bobbie if she's working Saturday for the sale).

November 4th at 2PM - Pam teaching Beginning Beading!! - Want to design your own jewelry? Restring or learn how to fix something that’s broken? Make a bracelet that is small/large enough to FIT you?  Come take this class and free your imagination for designing original pieces of jewelry.  A kit is provided which makes a necklace (or bracelet) and a pair of earrings. Cost of this class is $40 and is a beginning beading class. Nov 11th at 10AM - Susan P teaching her Decorative Wire Christmas Tree!! - Learn how to make a festive happy Christmas tree! Susan has made these trees for years and sold a multitude at InTown Gallery.  Make your own to decorate your house, office, where ever for the holidays!  We will have beads for sale to decorate with, or you can bring your own.  Supplies provided are 24g wire in color of choice, beads!  Class size limited to 8. Nov 11^th, 2023 at 1PM Amy teaching Wire Wrap Leather Bracelet! Amy is back again with another fun and beautiful Bracelet!  Come and learn how to make these fun wire wrap leather bracelets! They can be made with leather or with microfiber! This is a beginning wire/bead class and it will last 2.5 hours.  You should finish a bracelet in class.  Cost of this class is $40 and includes supplies to make your bracelet. Nov 15th, 2023 at 1PM - Pam teaching her Holly Berry Ornament Cover!! - Come learn this beautiful ornament cover with Pam.  This is a more intermediate pattern and would be difficult for a beginner, but some experience goes a long way.  Beads and ball are supplied with cost of class.  Bring a size 10 needle and 6lb Fire Line.  You may stay longer to finish.  She is working up another colorway as we speak.....  Cost of this class is $45.  Link to sign up for this class is HERE!

Nov 18th at 10A- Dale teaches Temple Bells and Angels!  - Graceful and sophisticated, these lightweight Temple Bell earrings are fun to make and delightful to wear! Students will incorporate a variety of known and new techniques to create their own pair of earrings, choosing to embellish them with whatever beads they like. Let the bells call forth Angels…or faeries, the choice is yours! Each student will choose their own color pallet from those provided and create a matching pair of earrings with a splash of motion at the hemline of the gown. This design can be altered many different ways that will be shared in class. The kit included in the class fee includes your choice of a beads, and sterling silver wire and chain; 14k gold-filled supplies are available for an additional $25 paid to the instructor before class. November 16th - Beading at the Big Table!!  OK, everybody is Christmas shopping, going to visit relatives or something, so we won't have a formal class, but anybody who wants to come and bead with us is welcome to come!  You know we'd love to see you and you can make all sorts of gifts for family members is you want or something special for yourself!!

December 9th, 2023 between 11AM-3:30PM - Amy teaching Quick and Easy Gifts for friends and family! (or Bracelets/earrings of all kinds)! Make and Take DAY!!!  Amy teaches an assortment of earrings and bracelets and YOU need gifts for a multitude of friends before te holidays!!  Make pairs of cute earrings or quick and easy bracelets!  Learn several!!  For this class, you pay the Make and Take fee of $15 and make your gift!!!  Pick from several fab samples to be taught!  Buy supplies to make another!  Make as many as you want, learn a few more!  Amy knows how to make a ton of fun choices!!    Stop in any time between 11AM and 3:30PM.  

Jan 20th, 2024 at 10A - Dale teaching the "Anything" Cocktail Ring!! - Ring in another New Year with the “Anything” Cocktail Ring, one Cougars signature pieces. Will yours become a Birthstone ring a Mother’s ring, an Anniversary ring, or a ‘these are my Favorite Colors’ ring?? Learn to personalize it by using Dale’s standard “tease, curve and connect”; method to add small rosettes, spirals, loops, pearls, crystals, etc. to the wire ends as they develop the detailed look of filigree. Learn to properly set and secure a snapset finding, as well as how to properly size this ring for a perfect fit every time. The kit included in the class fee includes your choice of bead embellishments and a faceted CZ stone, along with a sterling silver snapset and wire; 14k gold-filled wire and a 14kgf snapset are available for an additional $23 paid to the instructor before class. Please remember that we offer many classes on demand.  If the teacher is local, most are willing to teach classes at a convenient time for you and the teacher.  I’m getting these on the website, but please have patience!!!   

And generally, I sometimes (ok, all the time) don't really proof this newsletter prior to sending it out.  Most of the time because I'm sending it out at the last minute and in sort of a hurry.  Please excuse the poor grammer and misspelled words.  That's not my strong suit!  

And please remember to shop small.  I know there are a lot of other places that you can shop at to purchase your beads.  I'd like to think that we offer valuable knowledge and skills to enhance your jewelry (or beaded whatever) making.  The big boxes and all sorts of internet shops continue to get bigger and I'm hearing of more and more of my fellow bead shop owners having to close down because they can't compete.  I can't compete either, but would like to think that I offer more choices and services that make you want to come back for more.  Thanks for your support and I hope that I can stay here for you for many more years to come!
