December Newsletter 2023

Well, we are almost through another year in our current location!!  It's been a lot of fun and I've met a lot of really great beaders!!!  Thanks for all your support this year!  We also have a lot of unique pieces of jewelry already made in the shop for sale for purchase that would make great Christmas or birthday gifts.  Dont' forget that!  The work is already done for you!!

Of Note- I'm sponsoring a tree in the BBB's Miller Park "Festive Forest!"  We've decorated the tree with beaded ornaments and I hope to let the city know (everybody who doesn't know about the shop) know that we exist in Chattanooga.  So go and visit (the Forest will be up and lighted during the same time frame as the EPB window displays.  If you go, please hang out in front of our tree for a bit and say things like "I've been there- It's really great and they have great classes!!"  And if you don't really like us- hey!  Move on!!! Sorry....

I'm scheduling classes for next year,so please let me know if you want to learn different things.  I'm always guessing what you want.  I'm always looking to schedule more advanced classes, but it's a lot more of a challenge than I though......

And before we get to far into December- lets jump back to the end of November....  We will be closed on Thanksgiving day AND the day after (nobody really comes to the shop on black friday- we don't have the X-boxes or TVs.  We WILL be open on SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY when you should go out and support all of your nice little small business shops with whatever money you didn't spend on black Fiday (if any, please save some).  Anyway- we'll have a big sale on Small Business Saturday and I'm just going to have 20% off EVERYTHING (except consignment jewelry).  This will include the Delicas (I know- shocker).  I'm still thinking about the cases, but I think that I'll probably include those too.  Why not, I'm pretty well stocked in the cases, so come one, come all!!!   And will it be on line?   Hmmm.  Probably.

We don't have a lot of classes scheduled in December since December is generally a slow month for the shop.  But we are having a great Make and Take class with Amy Luviano who can teach several people different things at the same time.  And she's going to bring her whole repetriore of jewelry that she can teach.  I might try to put several pictures of her things at the end of this newsletter.  December holiday schedule is - We will be closed the week of Christmas.  Everybody wants off for Christmas and several of us have families that are fairly far away.  We will reopen December 30th (the Saturday after Christmas).  Everybody have a Merry and restful Holiday season!!

OK, back to December-  Almost totally in December, but a little in November is another FABULOUS TRUNK SHOW with Soul of Somanya with Melody MacDuffy!  Starting on November 28th through December 16th and maybe longer if she doesn't have any demands on her time.

Nov 28th, 2023- Dec 16th. Soul of Somanya Trunk show with Melody MacDuffee.  And Melody will do some classes on demand if she'll put together some nice Christmas gifts for your loved ones (or you) if you'd like.....

Dec 2nd, 2023 at 2P - Susan teaches Beginning Beading! Want to design your own jewelry? Restring or learn how to fix something that’s broken? Make a bracelet that is small/large enough to FIT you?  Come take this class and free your imagination for designing original pieces of jewelry.  A kit is provided which makes a necklace (or bracelet) and a pair of earrings. Cost of this class is $40 and is a beginning beading class.  Link to this class is. December 9th 11AM-3:30PM Amy Luviano and her "Make gifts for all your family members! "Make and Take!!" Day!!   Amy teaches an assortment of earrings and bracelets and YOU need gifts for a multitude of friends before te holidays!!  Make pairs of cute earrings or quick and easy bracelets!  Learn several!!  For this class, you pay the Make and Take fee of $15 and make your gift!!!  Pick from several fab samples to be taught!  Buy supplies to make another!  Make as many as you want, learn a few more!  Amy knows how to make a ton of fun choices!!    Stop in any time between 11AM and 3:30PM. You don't need to sign up- just come!  I said I would post pics at the end of this newsletter, but really- I have several pic posted on the website- just go THERE to look!

Jan 20th, 2024 at 10A - Dale teaching the "Anything" Cocktail Ring!! - Ring in another New Year with the “Anything” Cocktail Ring, one Cougars signature pieces. Will yours become a Birthstone ring a Mother’s ring, an Anniversary ring, or a ‘these are my Favorite Colors’ ring?? Learn to personalize it by using Dale’s standard “tease, curve and connect”; method to add small rosettes, spirals, loops, pearls, crystals, etc. to the wire ends as they develop the detailed look of filigree. Learn to properly set and secure a snapset finding, as well as how to properly size this ring for a perfect fit every time. The kit included in the class fee includes your choice of bead embellishments and a faceted CZ stone, along with a sterling silver snapset and wire; 14k gold-filled wire and a 14kgf snapset are available for an additional $23 paid to the instructor before class. Please remember that we offer many classes on demand (but probably not in the holiday season).  If the teacher is local, most are willing to teach classes at a convenient time for you and the teacher.  I’m getting these on the website, but please have patience!!!   

And generally, I sometimes (ok, all the time) don't really proof this newsletter prior to sending it out.  Most of the time because I'm sending it out at the last minute and in sort of a hurry.  Please excuse the poor grammer and misspelled words.  That's not my strong suit!  

And please remember to shop small.  I know there are a lot of other places that you can shop at to purchase your beads.  I'd like to think that we offer valuable knowledge and skills to enhance your jewelry (or beaded whatever) making.  The big boxes continue to get bigger and I'm hearing of more and more of my fellow bead shop owners having to close down because they can't compete.  I can't compete either, but would like to think that I offer more choices and services that make you want to come back for more.  Thanks for your support and I hope that I can stay here for you for many more years to come!
